2022
Company Founded
Pyrogen is officially founded.
2023
Concrete R&D
Extensive R&D trials using various biochar in concrete is carried out. Improvements in non-structural grades quality are achieved.
2024
Utility Model Issuance
Pyrogen is awarded a utility model (KE/U/2024/2668) from the Kenya Industrial Property Institute which grants exclusive rights to use biochar as an admixture in concrete mixes.
2024
Pilot Site
A biochar production facility site is identified in Baringo County, with ongoing community and local government engagements.
2025
World Bank Pilot Project
Pyrogen is chosen to work alongside Habitat for Humanity and CGAP (World Bank) to run R&D for structural grade biochar concrete used in affordable housing.
2025
Africa's First Biochar Concrete Facility
The first biochar concrete block manufacturing facility is setup in Nairobi producing carbon-negative products for the affordable and middle income housing markets.
